Stoney Middleton Hall

Middleton Hall

Middleton Hall, hidden away behind the church, is a restored 17th-century; Grade II listed building, home of the Denman family for many years.

Thomas Denman, who acquired the hall following the death of his uncle, became Lord Chief Justice of England in 1832, a position he held for 18 years until 1850. He enlarged and modernised the house and had the medieval bathhouse demolished and re-built in an attempt to increase its use amongst his tenants and employees.

Great article. I have been researching the Denman family for awhile now. I believe that Thomas Denman is a ancestor of mine. From what I have found he would be a great grandfather 8 generation back. Thanks for spending your time on thsi article. COREY
